Acting City Mayor gives Anna Regina Town Day excellent review

ACTING Mayor of Georgetown, Mr Ranwell Jordan, has expressed pleasure and has lauded the Anna Regina Town Council for successfully hosting that township’s first Anna Regina Town Day activity.

At a press conference at City Hall yesterday, Jordan said he was very delighted to have received an invitation for that very significant event. He explained that the Anna Regina Town Council would have been in existence for 23 years, and that it was a very pleasurable event this year for the council to have hosted its first Town Day in commemoration of the 23rd anniversary. Moreover, the Anna Regina Town Council intends to make this event an annual feature.
Jordan noted that Georgetown Town Clerk, Ms Carol Sooba, was also invited, and he said he is pleased to say that City Council was well represented by both its councillors and members of the administration.
He said the event was well attended by Government officials, and saw tremendous support from those in the area, as it featured some very pleasant activities.

He pointed out that such progress is indeed laudable, and he expressed his hope to see this event growing in size and scope in the coming years.
The Anna Regina Town Council’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), in collaboration with the Region 2 administration and the business community, on Friday kicked off the first Anna Regina Town Day. The event featured activities such as a cultural show, a “street lime”, an exhibition, the Anna Regina Town Queen pageant, street football, domino competitions, and interaction with the public on development of the township, visits to historical sites, and a social evening.

The three-day event was held under the theme “Fostering our community relationship, promoting our cultural history.”
