HUMAN Services and Social Security Minister, Jennifer Webster has said that that ministry is presently engaging the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development to facilitate payment of pensions in the Mabaruma area.

The minister made this disclosure in a recent written submission in Parliament as part of her response to a question posed by Opposition Member of Parliament, Ms Rennita Williams, who asked the minister if she was aware that pensioners were not receiving their pensions on time from the Mabaruma Post Office in Region 1, and what is being done by the ministry to resolve the problem.

In her response, Minister Webster reminded that her ministry provides payment for pensioners to the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) on a monthly basis prior to the first day of the new month, and that the GPOC has in place an administrative arrangement for distribution of funds to its Post Offices in the ten administrative regions.
