CHAIRMAN of the Guyana Elections Commission Dr Steve Surujbally has expressed condolence on the passing of former Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission Mr Doodnauth Singh.

Following is a statement by Dr. Surujbally on the Mr Singh’s passing:

“It is with a deep sense of sadness that I noted the passing of Mr. Doodnauth Singh, former Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission for the conduct of the 1997 General and Regional Elections.
 
Apart from his affable personality, Mr. Doodnauth Singh will always be remembered by me for his willingness to forthrightly share information with me whenever I consulted with him on election related matters.  An excellent source of information pertaining to those elections now no longer exists.  
On behalf of the Guyana Elections Commission, I extend deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Mr. Doodnauth Singh.”
