Star Party Rentals supports Slingerz ‘Goal for Gold’

WITHIN the next 24 hours, the curtain will go up on the Slingerz Football Club, in association with the National Association of Women’s Football ‘Goal for Gold’ tournament, and yesterday Star Party Rentals saw it fit to throw their support behind this lucrative tournament.

Trenton Griffith, acting on behalf of the management of Star Party Rentals, made a donation of an undisclosed sum to the organisers of the tournament in which the winners will pocket G$2M and the runners-up half of that amount.
In presenting the cheque to Public Relations Officer of the organising club, Mark Younge, Griffith expressed his Company’s delight at being chosen to partner with such a vibrant organisation, while Younge thanked the sponsors for their generosity, saying it would help make the tournament a successful one.
The tournament is a two-tier one in nature, with 16 male teams and 8 women teams battling for respective honours.
The male teams include Alpha United, Camptown FC, Rhythm Squad FC, GDF, Conquerors FC, Pele FC, Western Tigers (Georgetown), Topp XX, Netrockers, Milerock (Linden) and Uitvlugt, Den Amstel, Seawall and Slingerz (West Coast).
The women’s teams are drawn from Georgetown, Bartica, West Demerara and two from Berbice and they will join the action when the men’s competition reaches the quarterfinal stage, doing battle for $100 000, with the second-placed team pocketing $50 000.
The third- and fourth-place finishers in the male category will receive $500 000 and $300 000 respectively, while each of the teams will receive $25 000 to assist with preparations heading into the tournament.
The action will kick off tomorrow at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground at 18:00hrs, with Den Amstel Football Club taking on Riddim Squad in the supporting game while the feature attraction pits the skills of Camptown Football Club against Uitvlugt at 20:00hrs.
