Fined, bonded for abusing common-law wife

FIFTY-TWO-YEAR-OLD Rudolph Dass (no address given) was bonded for a year after he admitted, to Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, that he used abusive language to his common-law wife, Kamlawattie Chandan. The offence was committed following a misunderstanding at the woman’s Coburg Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice home.
Dass was warned that, should he be in default of the bond, a six weeks term of imprisonment will be imposed on him.
In New Amsterdam Court, he was also fined $10,000 for the July 9 threat.
Police Sergeant Phillip Sherriff, prosecuting, said the defendant went to the home of the virtual complainant, where they agreed to have a civil discussion, but after he entered the woman’s house, he used a series of expletives and wounded her.
On the wounding charge, to which Dass pleaded not guilty, he was granted $25,000 bail pending a September 30 trial.
