A MAN who is alleged to have choked his mother and dragged her out of a motor car appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
Errol De Freitas is charged with unlawful wounding and assault to cause actual bodily harm. The defendant, of Lot 37 North Street, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the offences, particulars of which said, on June 17, he unlawfully assaulted Janet De Freitas and, the same day, he wounded Alfred Hope.
Police Sergeant Vernetta Pindar, prosecuting, said about 19:30 hrs that day, the woman was in her son’s vehicle when she spoke to him about his behaviour and he became annoyed and reacted by choking and evicting her.

The prosecutor said, the same day, the defendant also inflicted wounds on Hope after they had an exchange of words.
Defence counsel Paul Fung-a-Fat said the defendant owns a stall in Stabroek Market and requested reasonable bail for him.
No objection was offered and surety was set at $90,000 for De Freitas, who is on a bond to keep the peace, pending the outcome of the cases that will be called, again, on August 19.
