THE Guyana U20 Women’s National Team continued their training camp on Sunday at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF)’s National Training Centre (NTC), as they prepare to represent the nation at the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U20 Championship.

The squad will enter the tournament as the only Caribbean nation to have reached this final qualification stage for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
With the countdown to the tournament intensifying, the Lady Jags have remained focused on fine-tuning their tactical readiness, sharpening technical execution, and building team chemistry.
As part of the day’s programme of activities, the players were afforded the opportunity to share the pitch with members of the women’s contingent of Police FC, a club that features several former senior and junior national players.

While the exercise provided valuable match exposure for the Lady Jags, it was also an inspiring experience. The shared moments between the young national hopefuls and some of the seasoned professionals created a spirited atmosphere filled with encouragement, mentorship, and camaraderie.
The interaction offered the girls a chance to learn from those who once donned the national jersey and continue to give back to the sport, both on and off the field.

Also adding a special dimension to the day’s activities was a brief meet-and-greet between the U20 players and participants of the ongoing GFF-Blue Water Shipping U15 Girls’ Tournament.
The encounter brought together two generations of female footballers, each inspired by the other, with one group striving to earn a place on the international stage, and the other just beginning their journey.

The U20 squad, known locally as the Lady Jags, commenced their camp earlier this week in preparation for Group A competition in Costa Rica, where Guyana is set to face regional giants in a highly- competitive group.
Guyana’s Fixtures:
• May 30: USA vs Guyana
• June 1: Guyana vs Costa Rica
• June 3: Puerto Rico vs Guyana

All matches will be held at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Costa Rica.
As preparations continue, the Lady Jags, along with our experienced technical staff, remain determined to represent Guyana to the best of their ability, bolstered by the support of the football

fraternity, and moments like yesterday that go beyond the game.
