Music enthusiast fractures foot in fetching feat

THIRTY-FOUR-YEAR-OLD Trevor Shuman of St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Mahaica River purchased a new music set as a Father’s Day gift to himself, his wife and his two children; but in fetching one of the heavy boxes up the stairs of his home, with intention to surprise his seven-year-old son, he swayed under the weight, lost control, and fell down the stairs by his back, the box going one way and he the other. Fortunately, that box contained one of the speakers, and not the player itself, but that speaker sustained considerable damage. altRushing to his rescue, his wife soon realised that he had broken his left ankle and could not move; so she quickly sought help, and he was placed into a vehicle and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

X-rays done at that institution confirmed that he had suffered a fractured ankle and he was admitted a patient, but he is enduring much pain, and is unable to get out of bed. He is expected to remain in hospital for some time yet.

Despite the injury and the pain, the somewhat heavy-set Trevor, a Christian, is thanking God that his injury was not worse. “When I consider (the situation, I realise that), I could have broken my neck, because I fell by my back and landed heavily. But God prevented that from happening,” he told the Guyana Chronicle.

Trevor is also thankful that it was not the player that had fallen, so he can still expect to enjoy his music set after slight repairs would have been effected to it on his returning home.
