IT recently engaged the attention of the court, but climaxed on the evening of Sunday, June 2, with the tragic death of 28-year-old Geeta Bissoondial, also known as Dian, at her High Reef, Albion home on the Corentyne in Berbice, Region 6.

Reports reaching this newspaper are that Bissoondial, who had resided with her common law spouse, Parbudial Tarachand, 34, also known as ‘Boyo’ and ‘Drax’, and her three children, aged six, three & one, also had an open relationship with a relative of Tarachand.
Neighbours related that Bissoondial of recent had decided to mend the relationship with Tarachand, and the third party had found this so unacceptable it had landed them all in court, resulting in this third party being banned from entering or lingering around Bissondial and Tarachand’s home.
At about 20:30 hrs on Sunday evening, residents related, that the third party approached the gate of Tarachand and Bissoondial’s premises and engaged the couple in a discussion, shortly after which the couple retired indoors, leaving the disgruntled third party standing on the street. Neighbours recall hearing some commotion in Tarachand’s home, after which the third party rushed into the premises. Shortly after, there were cries that Bissoondial had been strangled, while Tarachand lay motionless after allegedly consuming a toxic substance.
Neighbours recounted that the police were summoned, and upon arrival they took Tarachand for medical attention whilst the third party was taken into custody. After being medically attended to, Tarachand was allegedly also taken into police custody while the maternal grandmother of the three children went very early yesterday morning and whisked them away to her home on the East Bank of Berbice.
Residents of the remote and usually peaceful High Reef community said, that for quite some time now, the triangular love affair had created a stir in the community, and relatives of the parties involved had seemed helpless in bringing the parties to a compromise.
Bissoondial had been a housewife, while her spouse worked with GuySuCo and was also involved in construction. The third party was never known to be gainfully employed. This newspaper’s efforts to get from relatives further details of the triangular love affair proved futile, since they were devastated and embarrassed about the crime that many thought could have been avoided.
A post mortem examination was performed yesterday by Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan who gave the cause of death as manual strangulation.
