THERE are many entities and private individuals who are bent on taking tourism to the next level and among them is the Caribbean European Integration Travel and Tourism services headed by Ms. Richlyn .N. Angus, a former Guyana Civil Aviation Authority staff and University of Guyana Tourism student.
Located in Linden this entity is relatively new to Guyana and is ready to offer travel and tourism services with a difference from June 1, 2013.
Speaking to Ms. Angus recently this publication was informed that services offered by the entity will include selling of domestic and international air tickets, cruises, visa services, passport services, tour operations, provide events planning services, and management, and also sessions in the area of training and human resources development.
Also on their curriculum is resort management, tourism consultancy and all other segments associated with our tourism product.
Ms Angus who is the president and founder of this organisation plans to work in collaboration with the Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Upper Berbice) Tourism Development Association (of which she is also a founder member) to boost tourism and travel in the town and to create new job opportunities for international and domestic tourists.
She noted that there is a terrible deficiency in Linden’s tourism sector and in the town’s overall economic growth and assured that through her line of work; she is aspiring to change that one step at a time. She also intends to tackle the issue of the alarmingly high unemployment rate in Linden.
She added that CEI Travel and Tourism Services- Guyana is ready to stand tall and face major global changes.
This business was first registered in Barbados under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy programme (CSME) on 13 May 2012 and was operated as a home based company at Grosvenor Road, Carrington Village, St Michael, Barbados.
The name was used in an effort to show gratitude to CARICOM and the European Union for a job well done. Ms Angus has benefited in the past from a LOME IV Spanish for Tourism Scholarship programme to The Dominican Republic in the year 1999, together with the CARICOM CSME programme in Barbados in 2004, and the Linden Economic Advancement Programme in Linden Guyana, 2005.
CEI will therefore reflect the ACP-EU Partnership Agreement (usually referred to as the Cotonou Agreement), which was signed in Cotonou, Benin on June 13, 2000 and established a comprehensive framework for future ACP-EU relations. The agreement was signed by 71 ACP states, including the 15 CARIFORUM countries and 15 member states of the European Union.
Caribbean European Integration Travel and Tourism services will also reflect the core objectives of the agreement which are namely, economic development, the reduction and eradication of poverty, and the smooth and gradual integration of ACP states into the world economy.
All new market access opportunities in Tourism and Travel -Related Services in the CARIFORUM-EC Economic Partnership Agreement was carefully considered while brainstorming this business name Ms. Angus said.
Caribbean European Integration Travel and Tourism Services will ultimately expand and operate throughout the Caribbean and Europe in an effort to offer participants of the Linden Economic Advancement Programme tourism training, a chance to tap into the world economy in varying identified areas.
