THE Georgetown Softball Cricket League (GSCL) Regal Stationery and Computer Centre/Star Party Rentals/Trophy Stall/Mike’s Copy Centre and Salod Marketing Agency softball tournament is set to continue tomorrow at the Woolford Avenue-based Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground. The action gets under way at 09:00hrs with Regal XI facing MK Ogle in the semifinal with the winner clashing with Park Rangers in the final of the Over-35 category and in the Male Open category, Regal XI will play Speed Boat in the second semifinal at 12:00hrs with the winner facing Wolf Warriors on a date to be announced by the organisers.
The GSCL nationwide Open 12/12, Female and Over-35 competitions are expected to bowl off on May 27 at various venues and teams are required to pay an entrance fee of $7 000 (Male Open) and $5 000 (Male Over-35) with female teams being offered free participation.
The winners in the ladies’ category will take home a trophy and $100 000 while the runners-up will receive $50 000 and a trophy. The first place team in the Over-35 will uplift $100 000 and a trophy with the second-placed grabbing $50 000 and a trophy. In the Male Open category, the champions will be collect $200 000 and a trophy, while the runners-up will receive $100 000 a trophy.
