HIRE car driver, Christopher Chatapaul, 25, of Lot 4 Smythfield, was ordered to post $150,000 bail last Monday, when he appeared before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo on a causing death by dangerous driving charge, at New Amsterdam Court.

The accused was also instructed to report at Central Police Station, New Amsterdam, every Monday, at 09:00 hrs and a record must be kept until the conclusion of the case.
Chatapaul, who was not required to plea to the indictable offence, is alleged to have driving HB 2841 in a manner dangerous to the public, resulting in the death of Ganesh Persaud.
The trial has been transferred to Reliance Court, Canje, also in Berbice, where it will be called for fixture on June 19.
