RAM NAVMI to be observed on Friday-Dharmic Sabha announces

FROM the inception of NAVRATRI, which began on Thursday April 11, Hindus throughout Guyana have been deeply involved in worshipping the Universal Mother in her three forms – Durga, Lakshmi and Mata Saraswati. Durga Ashtmi is Thursday April 18 and Navratri ends with the observance of Ram Navmi on Friday April 19 – the birth anniversary of Shri Ram the 7th incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu.

Shri Ram’s birth took place on the 9th day of the Hindu lunar month of Chait at the midday hour.  Shri Ram reflects the ideal person and all are urged to emulate his life which covers every field of human endeavours. In the final analysis Shri Rama is worshipped and adored as the very incarnation of God.  Ram Navmi is observed in homes and in Mandirs with appropriate puja and singing of Kirtan and Bhajans.  Selected passages from the Ramayan will be read.

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha is encouraging all Mandirs to arrange Satsangh to commemorate Shri Rama Janma and urge that the day be celebrated with love and devotion.

Satsangh will be held at Shri Krishna Mandir on Thursday April 18, 2013 for Durga Ashtmi at 19:30 hrs.

Special Ram Navmi Satsangh will be held on Friday April 19, 2013 at Rama Krishna Mandir, Barr Street, Kitty at 17:00hrs. and at Shri Krishna Mandir, Seaforth Street, C/ville at 19:30hrs. (Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha release)
