FOOD For The Poor (Guyana) Incorporated has donated 91 two-and-a-half (2.5) gallon water bottles and 360 children’s croc shoes to the Ministry of Health to assist the residents of Region 1 in the North West District Area who recently suffered from an outbreak of gastroenteritis which reportedly claimed the lives of three children.
Speaking on behalf of Food for the Poor, Mr. Kent Vincent, Head of the Non-Governmental Organisation, said that he was very happy to donate the water bottles and the footwear to the ministry. He further stated that the organisation is always willing to assist the ministry wherever possible.
Ms. Faye Jones, nurse attached to the Disease Control Section of the ministry, said she was elated to receive the items on the ministry’s behalf and stated that it would be of tremendous help to the residents of the North West District.
The request for the donation of footwear was made by Dr. Shamedo Persaud,, Chief Medical Officer, who observed that
the children were attending school barefoot.
