BOSAI Mineral Inc., has donated six computers to the Region 10 Education Department and $400,000 towards the Linden town week event on Friday.
The computers are to aid in the promotion of Information Technology (IT) and to enhance the education sector in Region 10. This is to ensure that all the students acquire computer knowledge, something that plays a critical role in the modern working world.
Bosai has always supported the Linden Town Week, and last year the company donated $1M to the event. However, while this year’s assistance is smaller, the company is also sponsoring one of the contestants in the pageant and will also be distributing 60 hampers valued $10,000 each to the senior citizens along with other forms of contributions to the event.
The General Manager of Bosai Mineral Inc., Mr. George Zhao said it was a great honour for them to give back to the community and will continue in this vein.
Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr. Robert Persaud, who witnessed the handover, said he was happy that Bosai was giving back to Region 10.
The minister also noted that with such a large investment made in bauxite mining in Region 10, primarily Linden, that this non renewable resource should be used as a catalyst for other long -term economic development. This will create a lot of job opportunities for the people living there, he said.
Minister Persaud also used the opportunity to inform residents of Linden that Budget 2013 plays a vital role in the development of the town, as close to $8B has been budgeted for Region 10 with $2.9B for electricity subsidy which would mean every customer would benefit from approximately $200,000 annually.
