JUNIOR football rivalry is set to get cracking on the East Coast of Demerara today when the East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) commences an Under-15 League, ahead of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Inter-Association competition.
Matches (Group A) are scheduled for the Buxton Community Centre ground commencing at 08:00hrs when Positive Vibes take on Victoria Kings, followed by Ann’s Grove who go up against BV Triumph United from 09:45hrs.
The lone game set for the afternoon session brings together Youth Developers and Melanie at 14:00hrs, with Paradise Football Club drawing the bye.
Tomorrow’s action will involve Group B with two matches scheduled for the same venue, where Buxton Stars will match skills with Mahaica Determinators from 08:00hrs, followed by the Buxton United versus Golden Stars fixture at 09:45hrs.
Meanwhile, for players to be eligible to compete in this tournament (which rules are outlined below) they must be born on or after January 1, 1998.
Following are the rules of the tournament.
• Teams shall register no more than 22 players; one must be the goalkeeper.
• All teams MUST ensure that there is an adequate supply of water for their players.
• Substitutions are Unlimited and Rolling.
• All players must play a minimum of Ten (10) Minutes when substituted.
• Players substituted must only be re-substituted after all others have been given a chance to play.
• Winning teams will be awarded two points, draw one point, and walkover 2 points and 2 goals.
• The U-15 league is played for exposure and trophies will be awarded to the winning teams.
Teams playing over-aged player(s) will forfeit the match to the opposing team.
