Regional Admin bus slams truck parked at Cotton Field : –driver, nurse badly injured

THE Region 2 Administration’s minibus slammed into a canter parked on the Cotton Field public road at around 03:00hrs on Wednesday, while returning with a nurse to the Oscar Joseph District Hospital at Charity. Reports are that the bus was travelling in a northerly direction to Charity when it slammed into the parked truck before hitting a power post on the road shoulder. The loud impact of the accident caused scores of residents to rush out from their beds onto the public road. Some quickly offered assistance and tried to free the driver and nurse trapped in the mangled bus. A crow bar reportedly had to be used to break into the bus to free the trapped occupants.

The badly injured nurse and driver were rushed to the Suddie Hospital and admitted. Both patients are said to be suffering from broken legs, arms, and other injuries about their heads and bodies. The nurse was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, as her condition is said to be critical.

Only recently, the Regional Administration’s boat was involved in an accident in the Pomeroon River, while returning to Charity with some twelve persons.
Police are investigating.
