CHRISTMAS came early for the children of Joshua House as the Golden Jaguars Football Team in collaboration with Giftland OfficeMax yesterday donated books and toys in the spirit of the festive season. Speaking to the children on behalf of the Golden Jaguars Football Team, the Captain, Christopher Nurse said that their support to the team is very important, noting that they have aspirations of growing up to be soccer players, athletes, and to make good lives for themselves.
He added that it is therefore important that the children see the national team players. “so we come here to spend time with you and give back to the community so we thank you for coming and giving us your time this morning,” he stated.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, Public Relations Manager of Giftland OfficeMax, Compton Babb said that the company is always proud to be a part of giving back, especially to orphans and children in need.
He furthered stated that when they when they got a call from the team, without hesitation they decided to be a part and to give back to the community.
Babb noted that seldom has something like this ever been done in Guyana, and he congratulated the team for taking this initiative of giving back to the less fortunate and those in need.
He stressed that he hopes this is just the first of many similar activities to come, as “there are so many more homes and orphans that are in need, looking for the care and the love throughout the whole year.”
Administrator of Joshua House, Clifford Accra expressed gratitude on behalf of the children, noting that both he and the children were happy to have them there to make the donation.
“So may god bless you in all your endeavours and I hope you will bring home the gold sometime,” he told the team members.
The children treated the team members and Giftland representatives to their rendition of Christmas songs, and also said a prayer to express their gratitude.
