December 19 murder accused remanded on Court appearance

JOSHUA Payne (no address given) was remanded to prison yesterday on a murder charge.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, accused of the December 19 unlawful killing of Kelvin Caines.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, told the court the accused and victim had an argument and the former, who became annoyed, took a knife from a bag he was carrying and dealt the other man several stabs.
The Prosecutor said Payne escaped and Caines was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was pronounced dead.
However, Payne was, subsequently, arrested and will now remain imprisoned until February 1, 2013.
