GIFTLAND OfficeMax donated Christmas cheer hampers, valued $700,000, to 12 charitable organisations.
The handing over was done at the Georgetown Club on Camp Street in the city. The beneficiaries are the Berbice Anjuman Orphanage, Camal’s Home for Battered Women and Children, The Hauraruni Girls Home, Joshua Children’s Home, Red Cross Convalescent Homes, Shaheed Girls and Boys Orphanage, St. Ann’s Girls Orphanage, Drop in Centre for Children, Cornelia Ida Children’s Home, Ruimveldt Children’s Home, Divine Charitable Society and The Palms.
Giftland recently launched its 12 Deals of Christmas for the upcoming period and, with this in mind, the number of charities were targeted, so far.
The company’s Public Relations Manager, Mr. Compton Babb said the goal is to reach every orphanage and shelter, making a renowned presence in their lives.
He added that it is heart-warming to demonstrate that Giftland cares, by providing every home with Christmas cheer.
Babb noted that a community is made up of individuals and everyone has a part to play in building a caring community.
He also said that virtually everyone, at some point in their lives, will need to be cared for by the very same community and, if denied the nourishment needed for survival, it will fail to flourish.
Babb pointed out that a plant without water will die and, so too, will the spirit of this community.
Marketing Manager, Mr. Leslie Bonner said not only has Giftland been assisting homes but it has also adopted the Tiger Bay area in Georgetown by spreading cheer to the children there.
Bonner announced that, Giftland, for the 12 days of Christmas promotion will be also be offering amazing deals to its customers, beginning today and continuing through December 23.
