NCN investigation concluded – HPS

THE  investigation into financial misconduct at the National Communications Network  (NCN) has concluded and a report has been submitted to the Minister of Information, President Donald Ramotar, according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat (HPS) Dr. Roger Luncheon.

During a press briefing at Office of the President yesterday, Dr Luncheon said Office of the President is yet to pronounce definitively on that matter.
He expressed doubt that there would be a wider investigation into the entity, “unless it comes through the Auditor General and his report about any one of the State-owned entities.”
Dr. Luncheon pointed out also that there has not been a call from the NCN Board for further investigation. “We are actually motivated by how sensitively the Board addresses the issue and this one they addressed…,” he said. “I think that the Auditor General’s report would guide the Board into other areas.”
The HPS said that having seen the report, he noted that there are several recommendations made by the Board about current employees. While he was not at liberty to disclose what those recommendations were, he gave the assurance that the report would become public knowledge at the appropriate time.
