MINISTER within the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Alli Baksh met farmers in Region Three (Essequibo Islands/West Demerara) in the old co-operative rice mill at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo, yesterday, to discuss issues affecting them.

He promised that the necessary steps will be taken to eliminate and deal with the problems they are facing but it would be done at a much more inclusive forum.
Baksh said that, in the near future, invitations will be extended to the Regional Chairman and other authorities from within the Region to talk about the way forward for the farmers who are seeking assistance.
Other officials, among them a team from the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), including its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lionel Wordsworth were present at yesterday’s meeting.
