Nathoo, Thomas battle to draw in Uniparts Senior Chess Championship … action continues today

SENIOR chess players Loris Nathoo and Maria Thomas drew their match on Tuesday following a draw offer from Thomas to her opponent as the Uniparts Senior Championship Qualifiers continued at the Kei-Shar’s Sports Club.

The top female player had little available time on her clock and both parties reached the consensus, eliminating unnecessary risk from either side and sealing any chances of dominance by one player.
However, both players as well as Berbician Kriskal Persaud are now on the same score (three wins and a draw). Persaud scored a win on Tuesday against fellow senior Alexander Duncan and he is now among the top three. He will meet one of the top players when play resumes today at the same venue.
The points standing after four rounds reads: Loris Nathoo, Maria Thomas and Kriskal Persaud 3½ points each; Frankie Farley and Glenford Corlette three points each; Haatram Parbat 2½ points; Craig Sylvester, Alexander Duncan, Shiv Nandalall and Anthony Drayton two points each.
The other five players have less than two points.
