THE Georgetown Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GCIC) in collaboration with the Linden Chamber of Commerce (LCC) will be hosting a banking seminar aimed at enhancing the business community in Region 10.

altSpeaking at a press conference yesterday during which this announcement was made, President of the GCIC, Clinton Urling, stated that the seminar will be held on November 9, 2012.
He highlighted that the long term approach is to strengthen the business community.
Meanwhile Vice President of the Linden Chamber of Commerce, Noland Wactan, said the seminar is to allow some kind of motivation to the business community after the period of unrest in Linden.
“We thought it fit that we try to get the business people in Linden motivated,” Wactan pointed out.
He said they anticipate that this initiative will be a positive move for the Linden community, given the potential for development in the region.
He said valuable information coming out of the various seminars will seek to assist persons in setting up business plans and accessing micro credit loans.
He reiterated that the main focus is to let people know how to obtain financing to help businesses progress effectively.
He advised that Linden will see various challenges heading in its direction and as such, the business population should grab the various opportunities coming their way with both hands.
“We would like to get a positive response; Linden will be facing some of its most challenging times and that is why we believe that the business people in Linden should be prepared for any development that might be happening there,” he added.

Wactan  said all the studies that have been done in Guyana for the last ten years point to the region as an area that is rich in resources; this he said is not only geared towards community development, but to national development as well.
“Therefore we would like to urge all people in Linden to get involved so they can start learning what the banks have to offer and the various credit facilities they can access,” he commented.
In addition, Urling stated that this engagement is not intended to be a one off event.

He said that the Linden Chamber of Commerce is working on a developmental and strategic business plan to determine which direction they would want to take the organisation.
