JAGUARS roaming the village of Goshin (Riversview) in Region 10 (Upper Demerara/Berbice) are attacking dogs and poultry. Reports from the village, situated along the Essequibo River bank directly opposite Bartica, in Region 7 (Cuyuni/Mazaruni), said several dogs were killed and eaten by the jaguars over the past weeks.
One villager said the fearsome animals roam the village by night and hunt dogs and poultry.
However, several hunters are on the lookout for the jaguars which have made residents very afraid for their children to walk the lonely narrow pathway to attend the Holy Name primary and nursery schools.
The community does not have a public electricity system but many persons, who are involved in farming, logging and mining, have their own generators. (Prabhulall)
