31 new COVID-19 cases recorded

THIRTY-ONE more persons have been tested positive for the COVID-19 virus over the past 24 hours, taking Guyana’s overall confirmed cases to 63,570 since the first case was recorded in March, 2020.
No new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded within the last 24 hours.

There are currently 127 active COVID-19 cases in Guyana, following the addition of 31 new cases on May 07, 2022.
The new cases, which were recorded from 992 tests, were found in Regions One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and 10.

Regions One, Three, Five and 10 recorded one new case each; Region Two recorded two new cases; Regions Four and Six recorded 11 and 14 new cases, respectively.

There are no patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital, Liliendaal; one person is in institutional isolation; 124 are in home isolation, and two are in institutional quarantine.
Many of the persons infected with the virus are said to be asymptomatic, that is, they are not exhibiting symptoms.
