GT CLUB 45’s Under-45 take top honours

GEORGETOWN Club 45’s Under-45 Masters scored a 1-0 win over their Linden Masters Over-45 unit to cart off honours in the Red Stripe Linden Town Week Masters football tournament on Friday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground.

On a heavy outfield, the victory strike for the GT side came from a set piece play which began from the left back position.
The play was converted in the 64th minute by outside midfield player Dellon Layne,breaking the goal-less stalemate.

Earlier that evening the Linden Under-45 edged past their City rivals Club 45 Over-45 rivals to take third position.
The Linden team won 5-4 on penalty kicks following a 1-1 draw.

Club 45 defender Dwayne Alli was voted the Most Valuable Player of the tournament having secured the Most Goals title, with two.
Their goalkeeper Lance Liefde was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper, Mark Glasgow the Best Defense Player, Kevin Pryce the Best Midfield Player, their manager Kurtis Davis the Best Manager and Mr Dallas the Best Supporter.

An undisclosed amount of cash was awarded to both the winners Club 45 U-45 and the runners-up Linden Masters Over-45 teams along with trophies; while the individual awardees collected trophies. (Joe Chapman)
