The defendant told the court that he and the virtual complainant had an argument over money while he was ironing his pants, and Beckles approached him, demanding payment.
The woman pushed him, and he became annoyed and pushed her back, whereupon she fell on the bed, where the hot iron burned her.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said the defendant and virtual complainant live together, and were arguing when Abrams took the hot iron and burned the woman.
The prosecutor objected to bail for Abrams, disclosing that prior to this case, he has been before the court on a similar charge. Abrams was remanded to prison until October 12.
