DESPITE this being its first participation at the annual GuyExpo, EZjet made a very major impact, especially in the minds of the many spectators and visitors to its booth.
EZjet has already given back to persons through GuyExpo, by rewarding several persons with tickets to fly to three of its operational destinations.
Last evening, when this publication visited the booth, the number of persons who were visiting far exceeded what the booth had witnessed on the opening night Friday and Saturday nights combined. So many were the visitors that persons had to take turns in getting close to the representatives who were explaining the operation of the company and how easy it was to book a flight with the airline.
The thing that enraptured many persons was the fact that each and every visitor to the both had nothing to worry about, as they were all given a chance to fill out coupons that could have seen four out of the hundreds of visitors securing tickets to fly to destinations of their choice.
One woman asked the EZjet representative what about those who win tickets for Toronto or New York, but are not in possession of visas? Not to worry, the representative replied, as she informed the woman that in cases like that the airline will try switching the win by securing a flight for the winner to Port-of-Spain instead.
The presence of EZjet at GuyExpo has clearly shown that the Guyanese people warmly welcome the airline, and are receptive and comfortable with the low fares and the level of completion that the airline has brought to the local aviation sector.
Speaking with one of the visitors to the booth last evening, this publication was told that the visitor had never previously travelled with the airline, but he has relatives who did. He identified himself as Travis, and said that at the moment he is unable to fly because of doctors’ recommendation; but he was quick to relate that as soon as he is fit for flying, his airline of choice would be EZjet.
According to him, while he came to the expo to visit the various booths, he was inclined to pay special attention and interest to what EZjet had to offer, since it is the carrier that he would soon be using to travel to New York.
Another excited spectator to the booth was one Rosanna. The woman said that she lives a short distance from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport at Timehri. She said she travelled before, but was never able to travel with the airline since its entrance into the local market last year.According to Roseanna, at the first opportunity she gets to fly again, she will be heading to the EZjet office to purchase her ticket. The woman said she often sits on her veranda and looks onto the roadways; and she can tell when an EZjet flight enters the country by the amount of vehicles flowing from the airport.
Asked how she is able to determine this, she said that because of the amount of seats available on the craft, and the amount of passengers the craft is able to accommodate, the number of vehicles that flowed past her house at points are likely passengers who had deplaned an EZjet flight.
With last night being the final night of the Expo, EZjet created a wave that saw its earlier announced objective being realised, that is, widening its customer base. Between Thursday evening and last night, there have been over five thousand visitors to the EZjet booth.
The booth has seen the appearance of the CEO of the airline and his senior staff meeting and interacting with persons who wish to have information about the airline and how booking for flights is done, as compared to the other airlines. In addition to that, the Guyanese public was able to experience the ‘in flight hospitality of EZjet when members of the flight crew put in an appearance at the booth and exposed the booth visitors to the EZjet hospitality experience.
