Two Bacchus brothers allegedly killed by cousin …over money grievance

‘GRIEVANCE over money bring murder’ was how one friend summed up the killing of two brothers yesterday, allegedly by a cousin who stabbed them with a knife and later fled the scene before giving himself up to the police at Linden.

altDetectives were summoned to the scene in Industrial Area in Mackenzie soon after the confrontation between Imran Bacchus, 28, his brother, Sheed, 27, and their cousin, Abdul Budhoo, 27, ended, at about 08:00hrs,and the alleged killer gave himself up, claiming that he was attacked by five persons and had to defend himself.
One eye witness told this newspaper that the deceased were waiting for transportation outside a home for the person whom they were building a house for at Amelia’s Ward in Industrial Area.
The eye witness said, “The guy (Budhoo) came over and threatened the brothers and was hurling bricks and missiles while they were at the shop in the Industrial Area.”
He said Budhoo was becoming uncontrollable as he raged. Then the smaller brother reportedly went over to Budhoo’s mother Megan and then Budhoo began “stabbing Imran”.
The dead Bacchus brothers were killed for what close associates said was a grievance over money owed to their cousin, Budhoo.
When contacted yesterday afternoon, Budhoo’s mother, Mena, said she was unable to say what went wrong but had learnt that her son had stabbed his cousins over some money business.
