JAMAICA’s Kerrie Baylis Tuesday evening made her country proud at the Jamzone Regional Pageant 2012, as she captivated the audience and judges at National Cultural Centre with her beauty and intelligence and charm to be crowned Miss Jamzone 2012. Coming in first runner-up was Louise Liza Victor, Miss St. Lucia; second runner-up was Trevicia Adams, Ms. St. Kitts; third runner-up Ayanna Harris, Ms. Guyana; and fourth runner-up Renee Bhagwandeen who represented Trinidad and Tobago.
During all the segments of the pageant, Ms Jamaica sent the audience wild with her enthusiasm and boldness as she represented her country exceptionally well.
Even though she stumbled during the swimsuit segment, Baylis managed to keep going, her head still high with confidence and zeal for the Miss Jamzone 2012 crown.
This is the second time Miss Jamaica has been awarded the title. The last time was in 2010.
The 23-year-old Baylis is an insurance underwriter who says she wants to become a musician.
She said she will be using her prize money of US$10,000 to finish off her law programme. She is already the holder of a law degree from Surrey University.
To the surprise of many, St.Lucia captured the first runner-up spot.
Victor, 21, who is a student, said her philosophy in life is ‘Carpe Diem- Seize the day’, she further stated that another principle which governs her life is ‘Positivity- Think, Do, Be’.
“Hence, I pursue and engage in activities that I am passionate about and which bring fulfillment… these activities include youth and social development of my country. I am currently the General Secretary of the National Youth Council of St. Lucia, and as for as long as I live, I will continue to advocate for there to be greater appreciation of our young people.” she stated.Another one of her life’s ambition is to have a career in fashion. She said she intends to attain a degree in fashion marketing and management to make this possible.
Victor said during her spare time she loves participating in nature-oriented activities, going to the beach, hiking etc., shopping and relaxing with a book.
Meanwhile, second runner-up, Trevicia Adams, who represented Ms. St. Kitts, is currently a bank teller by profession and an entrepreneur by heart.
This beautiful 21- year -old delegate can’t go through a day without dancing and listening to music.
She is currently pursuing a degree in marketing, which she hopes will be the first step towards her dream of one day owning a prestigious marketing consulting firm.
Coming in third runner-up was, Guyana’s Ayanna Harris, who represented her country well in her capacity and made her local fans proud of her efforts.
The 23-year-old University of Guyana student loves modelling, watching cricket and football, cooking and interacting with friends and family via social networks. Her life’s ambition is to become an established marketing consultant.
Fourth runner-up was Trinidad and Tobago’s Renee Bhagwandeen, 23 years old.
The beauty, who is a professional model, said she enjoys travelling, cooking, exploring different cultures, and teaching children.
She said, “With God’s grace, I would like to be successful in all that I do.”
In this year’s Jamzone International Pageant, nine delegates from across the Caribbean and Latin America took to the stage.
Ms Jamaica Kerrie Baylis will on Sunday receive her crown at the Jamzone Beach Jam at the Splasmins Resort on the Linden Highway.
