HEADMASTER of the MacKenzie High School, Haslyn Small, on Monday, succumbed to the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) while a patient of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital, Liliendaal, Georgetown.
The news of his passing sent shockwaves throughout the mining town of Linden, since Small, according to residents, was a role model and a loving parent.
The Guyana Chronicle was made to understand that Small, who recently tested positive for the virus, was partially vaccinated.
The 50-year-old will be remembered as a very friendly and approachable teacher, who was always helpful to persons from all walks of life.
As of Tuesday, October 19, 2021, a total of 34,608 confirmed cases have been recorded in Guyana. Of this number, 2,011 are from Region 10.
