East Coast Cricket Board 11th Cricket Academy begins tomorrow

THE East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) eleventh annual Cricket Academy for fifty aspiring cricketers will commence tomorrow with the registration of the participants and official launching the following day by former West Indies Captain and Chairman of the Interim Management Committee for Cricket,  Clive Lloyd  at the Lusignan Community Centre. Participants were drawn from Ogle to Abary and they will get to interface with the senior national cricketers who will be at the Academy periodically to share their experiences with regards to the representation of Guyana.
President of the ECCB Bissoondyal Singh is urging the participants to report at Lusignan Community Centre at 9:00 hrs on Monday to commence registration.
Resource personnel will also be discussing the following subject areas throughout the duration of the programme: History of West Indies cricket (Professor Tota Mangar), Laws of Cricket, parts one and two (Davtirth Anandjit), Scoring parts one and two (Sidartha Anandjit), Road Safety (Cove and John Police officer) and Careers in Cricket (Claude Raphael).
Subject also include Drugs and Sports (Darshanand Rampersaud), Importance of Education (Regional Education Officer of Region 4), Leadership and Sportsmanship (Roger Harper MS), HIV and Teenage Sex (Runuka Anandjit), Foods and Nutrition (Ministry of Health), Social Etiquette/Grooming (Penelope Harris) and Discipline (Ronald Williams).
The Coordinator of the Academy is former national fast bowler Robert Adonis and he will be assisted by national cricket coach Latchman Yadram.
Coaches Daniel Richmond and Latchman Yadram will be the personnel working with the youngsters during their training stint.
The theme for the two week seminar for male and female youths between the ages of 12 and 16 years is “Cricket – Professionalism and Healthy Lifestyle”.
