WHAT sense does it make to fight to win control of the city or a region and then refuse to do something positive about it? The sad state of affairs that faces Georgetown residents and workers, the seemingly everlasting losing battle between the city council and garbage is a prime example of this. It is good to know that the people for whom I voted, APNU, did indeed win the city where I grew up and now work, not surprisingly, the PNC always won the city.
But what is very disappointing, is that with their victory in Region 4 and the city, they appear to have turned their backs on their constituents.
There has been absolutely no move by APNU to work towards ensuring their strongman City Mayor Hamilton Green gets the city clean. Now, I don’t want anyone telling me that APNU is not responsible and that it is the government’s job to get it done. That is just giving me more garbage.
As far as I am concerned, APNU should be blamed! I voted for them to win the city and the region and they did! Now do something about it! It is time to stop pointing fingers and fighting with the PPP/C. The City Council and the city are the responsibilities of City Hall and APNU. It belongs to them. Now clean it up and let us get on with our lives in clean surroundings!
I am warning you up front, if you don’t, you lose my vote, and APNU of all political parties knows the power of one vote.
I am a bit tired of hearing and reading of all the posturing by the three political parties. For peace sake, just zip it and get on with the work. Clean up the city. Our health is at stake.
An open letter to APNU–Clean up the city
