THE Guyana Badminton Association’s (GBA) National A, B & C Division Tournament this past weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall ended with top performances from some of Guyana’s Badminton aces.
It was played in a round-robin format and in the A & B Men’s Divisions the first two winners in the group moved to the semi-finals in the Main Draw.
Guyana’s leading male Badminton star Narayan Ramdhani, topped the Men’s A category while his sister Priyanna, toppled the competition in the Women’s A division.
Akili Haynes, Christina Kumar, Avinash Odit were also among winners in the other divisions, as the GBA managed to get a good look at their crop of players following a long break due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the competition was the first local tournament since December 2019 and was specifically organised by player Christiana Kumar, to whom the GBA sent their gratitude for acquiring sponsorship for the one-day event, which was played with all the COVID-19 guidelines in full effect.
