TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD Marlon Abel, of Lot 461 Rose Hall Town, Corentyne, was remanded to prison yesterday, on a robbery under arms charge. He appeared at the New Amsterdam court, also in Berbice, charged, indictably, with having, on July 18 last, whilst being armed with a gun, robbed Peter Hicks of three gold bangles and three gold chains valued a total of $1M.
Police Corporal Racquel Mars, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail, citing the prevalence of the offence and that the accused has other cases of a similar nature pending at the Albion court, in Berbice, too.
The latest was transferred to there for report and fixture on July 30.
