‘Keep Your Five Alive’ – PROMOTERS PUSH BACK TOURNAMENT TO NEXT WEEKEND

FOLLOWING a staggered start which saw the promoter of the ‘Keep Your Five Alive’ football tournament postpone the second night of action, the tournament will commence over a three-day format at the California Square in East Ruimveldt from July 20 to 22. In an invited comment, Kevin Adonis of Adoni Productions said he was forced to postpone the tournament and make it a three-day affair, following several hiccups which were beyond his control at times.
‘I am more concerned about the image of the tournament, rather than having the players turn up at any given time to compete, and having told myself that I need to have more control over the organising of this tournament, I decided to reduce it to a three-day affair from next weekend,” said Adonis.
Asked about those teams who won their first-round matches on the opening night, Adonis said the victories won remain on record, while they have advanced to the next round which will be played next Saturday night.
“On the 20th, we will be having 12 matches lasting 20 minutes each, with the first match kicking off at 19:00hrs. Teams are asked to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before their match commences.
A failure to do so would result in their opponents being granted the game via a walkover when the match is called, as we will be pressed for time and as I said, before, I need to have control over the proper organising of this tournament.”
The quarterfinals will kick off the following night, while the semifinals and final will be played on the final night of the tournament which has over $500 000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, with Colors Boutique giving each member of the winning team, a pair of turf boots.
