Meanwhile, Chronicle Sport understands that coach Rohan Robinson of Jamaica was tested positive for COVID-19 and will have to miss the game, as per tournament rules. Robinson received his result about two hours before tip-off of the Jamaica versus Costa Rica game last evening.
Robinson, a report said, is showing no symptoms, is awaiting the result of a second test while he remains in isolation. Other team members were also tested.
The tournament has adopted a bubble approach and any other positive results could see Jamaica being ejected from the competition.
The ‘Reggae Ballerz’ is not yet at full strength, according to information, as two key players in Jerome Thomas and Nicolai Brown are still trying to sort out visa issues to join the squad.
A Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) official, when contacted, said the 11 players and six technical staff all returned a negative COVID-19 result in the latest tests conducted by basketball’s global body FIBA in San Salvador.
