YOUTH Basketball Guyana (YBG) will for one week (July 1 to 8), hold their National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) version of the tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. This tournament will see participation for the national titles in two divisions, Senior and Under-16 where 12 teams will do battle in the Seniors category and eight are expected to compete for supremacy in the Under-16 category.
The seniors will be placed in four groups, with Kwakwani, Tutorial Academy and Wismar Multilateral forming Group A, Marian Academy, President’s College and Guyana School of Agriculture competing in of Group B, Plaisance Academy, Government Technical Institute and Queen’s College in Group C and Port Mourant Training Centre, Linden Technical Institute and University of Guyana comprising Group D.
In the Under-16 category, the eight teams will be divided into two groups to compete in a playoff with Group A being made up of Bishops’ High School, Kwakwani Secondary, Mae’s Academy and Plaisance, while Group B will bring tohether President’s College, Marian Academy, St Rose’s High School and New Amsterdam Multilateral.
Five matches will be played on the opening day of the tournament which is being sponsored by Digicel, Beharry Group of Companies (Champion Chowmein), Banks DIH’s PowerAde, Sterling Products, Bounty and Bryden and Fernandes.
