A MAN was sentenced to 10 days imprisonment yesterday for threatening to shoot his reputed wife. Ron Sam (no address given) pleaded guilty to the offence before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, admitting that, on June 10, in Leopold Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, he threatened Esther Gordon.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, said, that day, rain wet the couple’s bed because a window was left open and Sam took one of Gordon’s shirts and spread it.
The prosecutor said the virtual complainant objected and the defendant became annoyed and issued the threat to shoot her with his friend’s gun.
It was not the first such threat, the prosecutor said.
Sam told the court that his wife would, usually, smoke cigarettes and it affects him a lot, so he opened the window and, on becoming vexed, she threatened to bore him with a knife.
He claimed that all he told the woman was to go for the knife if she wants to have a blood bath.
