Fifth Inter-Organisation basketball tournament set for next Saturday

COME next Saturday, VP SPORTS will commence their fifth annual Inter-Organisation one-day basketball tournament, in which 16 organisations are scheduled to compete, paving the way for keen rivalry and competition. Coordinator Vijay Panday said the objective of the tournament is to spread the game to the working staff, giving them an opportunity to participate as it is always good to spot talent.
He explained that this tournament has contributed to the development of the game nationally as a number of players came through this tournament and represented Guyana at various levels.
“Its main focus is to create the awareness of the sport discipline, the love for the sport and the equal opportunity to participate or officiate in some way,” Panday said.
The organisations to be represented will be Guyana Fire Service, Guyana Police Force, Guyana Defence Force, Bosai Guyana Inc., Geddes Grant Group of Companies, Banks DIH Limited, Pretti Paul Singh, Qualfon, Guyana Power and Light, Republic Bank, Caricom, Starr Computers, Sambora Communications, National Insurance Scheme and Laparkan.
The tournament is being sponsored by Digicel, Giftland OfficeMax, White Castle Fish Shop, Sonic Boom, Neal and Massy Group of Companies and others. Neal and Massy will look to defend their title sternly.
