–armed bandits rob Bourda fast food outlet, shoot bystander in escape bid
A MOBILE police patrol arrested a man on Sunday, May 21, at about 13:50hrs, after finding an unlicensed Glock 17, 9mm pistol with nine (9) matching rounds on his person when they intercepted him riding a motor cycle. He is in police custody and will be arraigned in court shortly. Meanwhile, a bystander was shot and injured during an armed robbery at the Church’s Restaurant at Bourda, which occurred at about 07:30hrs last Sunday, May 21, when two men armed with a gun robbed the director of an undisclosed amount of money, and shot a man during their escape bid.
The director had just left the entity with a bag containing cash when one of the bandits confronted him and wrestled it away from him, in the process discharging a round which struck Dennis Williams of Albouystown, Georgetown in his left instep. The bandit escaped on a motor cycle driven by his accomplice.
Williams is presently in stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital, as investigations continue.
