ISHRIDAT Kanhai yesterday appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with unlawful wounding and was released on bail.
Kanhai, of Lot 24 Hill Street, Albouystown, pleaded not guilty to the charge which said, on July 29, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Serrick Sookhai.
According to Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, the virtual complainant was at his cousin’s home when the defendant went there and ‘lashed’ him on his head with a piece of wood.
Seetaram said Sookhai had to be hospitalised because he sustained severe injuries.
Kanhai was released on $50,000 bail and the case will be called again on September 1.
