GUYANA recorded 40 additional COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, August 19, 2020 and four additional deaths.
The ages of the individuals who died on Wednesday are 41, 43, 55 and 72. There were two females and two males. Two of the individuals died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) while two others died at the Bartica Hospital in Region Seven.
The total number of cases recorded to date is 776. Meanwhile, out of the number of cases recorded, there has been 381 recoveries. Region Four is still the region with the highest recorded cases, pinnacling at 222. Close behind are Regions Seven, Nine and One with 169, 164 and 114 cases respectively.
Region 10 has recorded 43 cases; Region Three has recorded 39 cases, while Regions Eight, Two, Six and Five have recorded nine, eight, seven and one case respectively.
There are 298 persons in home isolation and 55 persons in institutional quarantine. The recorded cases are as a result of the 6,297 tests conducted.
