Naya Zamana 15
THE Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, last Saturday evening, staged ‘Naya Zamana 15 – Dancing through the Ages’ at the National Cultural Centre. It was an exquisite and unforgettable evening of dance. Naya Zamana 15, choreographed by artistic directors, Dr. Vindhya Vasini Persaud and Trishala Persaud, has over the years presented a refreshing, eclectic melting pot of energetic, passionate, soulful, whimsical and subversive dance styles. For the 15th production, the two sisters were reported to have worked with scores of dancers, creating snapshot vignettes from the various eras of dance – from Odissi, Kuchipudi and Kathak, to folk and Bollywood.
