Four teams will walk the plank tonight
FOLLOWING some very exciting action in this year’s second annual Banks DIH-sponsored Linden Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal football competition, four teams will advance to the semifinals while another four will walk the plank after tonight’s quarterfinals which take place at the Wismar/Amelia’s Ward bus park. Over 140 goals have been scored so far, leading up to tonight’s matches in this year’s tournament which has a first place prize of $500 000 and a trophy awaiting the winner, who will be crowned Linden’s Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ champion. In tonight’s action which gets under way at 1830hrs, Half Mile/One Mile will take on Hard Knocks, Pepper Skull and Porkerburg will test each other’s strength, Sheriff Squad will be looking to lock down Retrieve Unknowns, while Rough and Rugged will seek to stop Amelia’s Ward Russians.
There will be two exhibition matches in the night’s action, featuring BOSAI who go up against Linden Educational Institute (LEI) and Team Greatness who face LUSCL. Apart from the first place prize, the second-, third- and fourth-placed teams will receive $250 000, $150 000 and $100 000 respectively with a special prize being presented to the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. As was evident in last year’s tournament, all 32 teams in this year’s competition will receive a hamper compliment of Banks DIH while the winning team can expect a place in the upcoming Regional Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ competition to be held here sometime soon.
