ONEIL Neptune was yesterday sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by Magistrate Priya Beharry after he pleaded guilty to an attempted break and enter charge. Neptune (no address given) admitted that, on August 3, he attempted to break into the snackette of Devi Mohabir with intent to steal. Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said Mohabir operates the snackette at Industrial Site, Greater Georgetown . He said she received a telephone call that someone was breaking into her place and upon checking, she saw the defendant there. But Neptune stated that he bought food from Mohabir which caused him to vomit. He claimed that the food had poisoned and when he went to inform her of this, she made sure that he was beaten. The Prosecutor pointed out that Neptune had several brushes with the law. Another defendant, Randy James (no address given), appeared in the same court and also pleaded guilty to a charge of larceny. On August 3 he stole a number of items valued at $14, 000 from Waynewright Jacobs. James said he was hungry and he asked several persons for money to buy something to eat. Since he did not receive any, he decided to take the money. He was fined $25,000 with the alternative of three months in jail.
