Anna Regina collecting garbage with gov’t donated truck

THE Anna Regina municipality has improved its garbage collection also within the wards between Three friends and Walton Hall, on the Essequibo Coast. The Mayor, Mr. Sammy Rampersaud, disclosed that the Town Council is using its new disposal truck, that was recently donated by government, to collect from residents for a small charge.
Acting Town Clerk, Ms. Diana Critchlow, said the service is available to all residents within the township.
She announced that residents will have to pay $100 to pick up and dispose of one bag and $300 for one 45-gallon drum.
Critchlow said the service will be available on specific days within the town and residents will be required to place their waste on the roadside in drums or bags.
Scores of residents have welcomed the initiative by the council and are also thankful to the government for making the vehicle available. They have lauded the efforts to make the town clean and healthy.
