Essequibo PYO stages hike to foster socialisation

THE Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO), last Saturday, led a hike from the Anna Regina Car Park to the Cheddi Jagan Biodiversity Park in the Lima Sands area, all on the Essequibo Coast. Chairman of the Essequibo PYO, Mr. Gaydyal Ramnauth said about 50 youths from 12 groups across the Coast participated in the exercise.
Before they moved off, he explained that the activity was aimed at fostering socialisation amongst young people as well as promote  healthy lifestyles.
According to Ramnauth, the second in the series of hikes this year was themed ‘Together we hike for a better future’ and the youths interacted with each other and created new friendships.
He reminded the participants that they are the future leaders of tomorrow and, as such, they should keep on striving for excellence to make Guyana proud.
People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) member of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Mr. Basil Persaud, said youths who took part under the banner of the PYO should be proud to be associated with the youth arm of the ruling party.
