THE People’s Government of Fuzhou, China, through the Chinese Embassy, donated 30,000 face masks to the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown, on Friday, in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic.
The Mayor, Pandit Ubraj Narine, expressed sincere gratitude, as the masks will be used by the essential workers of City Hall. He said some of the sections targeted for the distribution are the City’s Engineers, Solid Waste, and Public Health Departments.
In attendance at the short handing over were: Deputy Chief of Missions and Political Counsellor, Chen Xilai, who handed over the masks to His Worship the Mayor of Georgetown, Pandit Ubraj Narine; Town Clerk (ag), Sherry Jerrick and Deputy Mayor, Alfred Mentore.
Georgetown and Fuzhou City share a twinning relationship since 2006. Fuzhou City, located in the lower reaches of the Min River, is the capital city of the Fujian Province. Fuzhou is the metropolis of the Fujian Province.
